Romann Ramshorn is a French photographer born in 1977 in Brive-la-Gaillarde. As a child, he grew up in Périgord, in a house in the middle of nowhere, with no neighbors, water or electricity, and the forest as his only horizon. An atypical experience that left a strong imprint on his imagination and his representation of the world.
In 1985, his parents moved to Brive, reviving their initial training as advertising photographers. This was followed by an adolescence nourished by urban cultures, at the height of the Hip-Hop period, where music, literature and cinema also played an important role. After graduating in Philosophy in Bordeaux in 1999, he finally turned to photography, making it his preferred mode of writing.
In 2013, after years on the road, he moved back to Brive, where he also founded his advertising photography studio, Studio Ramshorn.
A photographer of the thickness of time, his sometimes highly graphic, sometimes grainy, blurred and dark universe conceals multiple and irreconcilable tensions.
In September 2021, he publishes Lueurs Cendrées, a retrospective-style book that poetically evokes the main thrusts of his work, and in October 2024 Far Spain, an epic journey through the vast lands of Spain, where time seems to have frozen, as if petrified by the light of a mysterious fire.
Member of the Hans Lucas studio in Paris,
And of the Millenium agency in London.
