At the crossroads of current techniques, Romann takes his photographs using film, develops his own films, and then digitises them using a scanner designed specifically for negatives. Haunted by memories and carried along by his times, his universe, sometimes highly graphic, sometimes grainy, blurred and dark, conceals multiple and irreconcilable tensions. A complex vision, sometimes simplified to the extreme, which is written throughout dreamlike and solitary journeys, most often through abandoned countryside, but also on the cold pavements of cities.
